Georgia Moore has been playing Toli since sometime in 1992 (things were fuzzy when she was in college). She was one of the first two women (G'anna Weissinger was the other) to play in an official Flying Rat versus Conehatta Choctaw Toli match.Georgia's list of injuries has included most of those which are normally associated with "battered woman syndrome" and several trips for x-rays of her all-important, lefthand "bird" finger (which turned out, each time, so far, to be busted blood vessels rather than bone. Which doesn't mean it didn't hurt).
Georgia's favorite thing about Toli besides playing it is photographing it. While not playing Toli, she earned a Master's degree in microbiology (working for Dr. Scott Martin)and a Bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Georgia.
Since then, having been hit too many times over the head with Toli sticks, she did something she said she'd never do - work for the government. But in a fairly benign and even well intentioned way - writing and editing materials warning the public of environmental toxins and occupational hazards. She continues to play Toli when she can, pretending that the ball is the head of various officiators of red tape - or at least people responsible for furloughs.
The photographs featured on this Toli page (as well as this biography) are mostly the work of Georgia.
