John Chamblee

In spite of his extreme aversion to physical pain, John Chamblee has been playing Toli since the Winter of 1993. This dislike for pain drives him to be a somewhat shifty player. That is, he attempts (sometimes even successfully) to out think or out run his opponents during competition for the ball. These same feelings about pain (along his with feelings about missing a shot, making a bad throw, making a bad pickup, or seeing a color he doesn't like) sometimes drive him to fits of temper and obscenity that would embarrass even Courtney Love. John insists that these displays are cathartic and healthy and that they are not part of his daily life, but it's difficult to be sure. | -) After a long hiatus, brought about in part by pressure to complete his Honors thesis in Anthropology (and in part by his distaste for pain), John returned to the Toli field in February of 1997. He has a degree in Anthropology and Political Science from UGA and is currently a Research Technician for the University of Georgia Laboratory of Archaeology and does not plan to abandon Toli again until death or the beginning of an unspecified out of state graduate program in the Fall of 1998. Most of his teammates expect the former.
